What is Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient form of healing that has been used for thousands of years to restore balance and promote wellness in the body, mind, and spirit. In addition to physical benefits including pain relief and injury support, acupuncture is also known to promote emotional and mental balance, helping to relieve stress, anxiety, and depression. Overall, acupuncture offers a gentle and natural approach to healing that can help to support the body's innate ability to heal itself and promote optimal health and wellness.
Acupuncture is designed to treat both the root of the problem and the symptoms leading to a resolution and relief that lasts
Each session is completely customized and designed to meet you exactly where you are on any given day. A typical treatment consists of both a front and back treatment, Chinese medical massage to help determine what’s happening in the body (plus it feels great!), essential oil applications, electric stimulation, cupping and more!
Everything is always explained so you are informed and comfortable and ultimately you are always in charge.
Styles of acupuncture used include trigger point release, esoteric acupuncture patterns, traditional Chinese medicine, Kikko Matsumoto style, and intuitive needling.
Esoteric Acupuncture Patterns - As an advanced acupuncture technique, esoteric acupuncture weaves together ancient wisdom with spiritual and consciousness expansion. It moves beyond treating physical symptoms and addresses the deeper emotional and spiritual aspects of the realms of health and wellness.
Intuitive Needling - I tap into my inner wisdom and knowledge to guide this acupuncture process. It's a practice that allows me to attune to your body's subtle cues to determine the most beneficial placement for the needles. Intuitive needling is grounded in forming connections and a deep understanding of the body's energetic landscape.
Kikko Matsumoto Style - Originally developed by the renowned acupuncturist Kiiko Matsumoto, specializing in this style allows me to focus on palpation-based acupuncture. This highly effective systematic approach originates from the belief that feedback from the body guides the treatment process to make it more effective.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) - TCM encompasses a broad range of medicinal practices shared by the Chinese culture, including herbal medicine, diet, exercise such as Qigong and Tai Chi, and acupuncture. It is a holistic healing system that perceives the body, mind, and spirit as interconnected.
Trigger Point Release AKA Dry Needling - This technique is integral to have in my therapeutic arsenal. Trigger point release focuses on relieving tight nodules or "knots" in the muscle tissue that cause pain. I can precisely target these areas with acupuncture, helping alleviate pain and restore mobility.
Initial Session
It all begins with an introductory session that leads to choosing a customized treatment plan for you.
We’ll begin by getting to know each other and I’ll deeply listen to what you’re experiencing and what you’re goals are with treatment.
I’ll then thoroughly explain what to expect and talk you through the entire treatment process.
You can expect to be in the treatment room for an hour and have my undivided attention at all times.
Once the customized treatment is over we will discuss an on-going plan together.
Committing to yourself and your care is an important part of the medicine of acupuncture healing. If you have a goal in mind, be it to become pain-free, become pregnant, or perhaps reduce your anxiety it takes time to achieve. While often patients feel a shift immediately after their first session, creating lasting change requires time.
Acupuncture Specialties
Fertility Support and Women’s Health
Many people who are struggling with fertility issues have turned to acupuncture to help them conceive. Acupuncture has been shown to regulate the menstrual cycle and improve blood flow to the reproductive organs, which can increase the chances of conception. It can also reduce stress and anxiety, which are common contributors to fertility problems. By restoring the body's natural balance and promoting relaxation, acupuncture enhances fertility and supports a healthy pregnancy.
Mental Health Wellness
Acupuncture can help improve mental health by reducing symptoms of anxiety, depression, and stress. Acupuncture can stimulate the release of endorphins, which are natural pain-relieving chemicals in the body, promoting relaxation and reducing stress levels. It can also help regulate the autonomic nervous system, which can impact mood and emotions. It is the perfect companion to ongoing support from licensed therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, and medications.
Pain Management and Sports Injury
Acupuncture is an effective therapy for pain management, as it has been shown to reduce pain and inflammation in conditions such as arthritis, headaches, and neck & back pain. The needles used in acupuncture can stimulate the release of endorphins, which are natural painkillers, providing relief without the use of medication. And trigger point releases can alleviate muscle tension. Acupuncture also helps regulate the body's nervous system and reduce stress, which can contribute to chronic pain.
Discover the Transformative Benefits of Acupuncture
In my experience as a practitioner, acupuncture's benefits are truly remarkable and far-reaching. This delicate yet potent technique promotes balance inside your body, allowing it to heal naturally. Many of my patients have reported substantial drops in their discomfort levels, improved mobility, and a healthier lifestyle after finding relief from chronic pain.
Acupuncture has also been shown to help with stress management. Our lives are frequently hectic and stressful, and the calming nature of acupuncture provides a peaceful sanctuary where the body and mind can reset. Patients often express their sense of renewed energy and transformed emotional well-being following a few sessions.
Improved sleep quality is a common benefit among those who get acupuncture regularly. It regulates the body's internal rhythms, resulting in a more restful and restorative sleep cycle.
It's important to note that the benefits of acupuncture often emerge gradually, aligning with the holistic approach of treating the underlying cause rather than just the symptoms. Regular treatments can have a life-changing effect, promoting physical but also mental and emotional health.
